I recommend this place to anyone who will listen. Have been three or four times now and have always had a fantastic meal. The menus are varied and reasonably priced and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Such a shame there aren’t more pub/ restaurants like this in the area.

Twelve of us gathered here for sunday lunch on July 1st. Busy, but the service and staff were first class, great courtesy, kindness and consideration. Imaginative menu with traditional and interesting dishes, perfectly cooked and well presented. Congratulations Andrew, you are developing a winner. Brace yourselves, we’ll be back again soon!

Howden le Wear. County Durham.
My husband and I have just enjoyed another superb pub meal at The Crown. We always receive the warmest of welcomes from friendly and attentive staff. We chose the twice cooked beef with peppercorn sauce – melt in the mouth succulent beef with creamy and delicious peppercorn sauce – highly recommended! Really wide menu choice with excellent ‘specials’ board daily. We’ve never been disappointed and love to bring family and friends who are always well impressed. A real country pub with relaxed and convivial atmosphere!

Andrew and Mandy built up an enviable reputation with the Riverside Restaurant at Barnard Castle and now they are doing the same with the revised Crown at Mickleton.
We regular eat in S W France which is well renowned for its cuisine but the Crown shows a clean pair of heels both in quality and price to many good French restaurants but with the added benefit of the charm of an English country pub and restaurant.

First visit, have tried coming here over the years and never found it open! Beautifully renovated in a low key fashion, sparkling and clean, welcoming and friendly. Food was very good pub food standard, with some interesting variations such as goat. Local beef was superb. Salad a bit overdressed and oniony! (personal taste?) Good selection of wine by the glass, choice od rose (well done). Will recommend to other visitors to the cottage! Thank you for a lovely meal, reasonably priced too. Good Luck!
