Highly recommend this beautiful village pub for service, surroundings and exceptional quality food. We visited tonight as a group to celebrate our daughter and son in laws wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, even for me as I have allergies to both wheat and dairy. Normally I struggle to get a decent main course where as here I had a full 3 courses, absolute luxury too!!
Thank you for a wonderful evening and we shall be back, to stay over next time in the camp site too :-))

Stayed at the Crowns CL site for three nights and had a lovely time. Although the site is a little expensive, it is very well laid out and full hard standing with your own water tap. There is a shower and toilet (heated) for use should you need it. We ate at the pub last night and one of the nicest meals I have had in a long while. Not only did it look fab on the plate, it was backed up by fantastic taste too. Great beers and wine. Fantastic three days. Thank you.

We spent a 4 nights in the superb CL over New Year. Very spacious pitches with great views. There is a lovely little heated shower room . The New Years eve dinner in The Crown was fantastic. Superb food served at a leisurely pace with a lovely welcome and service from Andrew, Sally and the rest of the team, all rounded off with midnight fireworks.

Fabulous 5 unit site with lovely open views. Huge gravel pitches with water tap on pitch. The location is ideal for visiting this beautiful area – Barnard Castle and High and Low Force waterfalls within 10 miles. Access to the site from the A1 is very easy. The pub is lovely with a roaring log fire, run by the owners of the site who are very friendly and helpful. The food is fabulous and they have a great range of beers, wines and spirits.

We are not normally motorhomers who stay in pub car parks but the crown is fantastic with massive size pitches all of which are serviced also a dedicated toilet/shower block and in our own gated CL site.
The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble we were shown to our pitch and on booking a table in the crown the food was fantastic.
I don’t normally go overboard about some places we’ve stayed at but this ranks very very highly on our return list.
Thank you all at the crown for a great stay.
